Easter Island Pez

I have never worked with After Effects before, but when I was asked challenged to see if I could learn enough basics in 2 weeks to make something move in a gif format, I was up for the challenge. My original idea was to take the My Bucket List project I had previously done, and make every famous landmark move. Here is the rough storyboard I made, I have never made a story board before so this was a new process to me!
I found some great step by step YouTube tutorials and I went to work trying to learn how to use After Effects, since I know most of the big Adobe products, I felt like this wasn't too hard. Just as every platform is different, it took some time to learn what the different symbols meant and how to use them. The first step was altering the Illustrator file so I could move different parts of the landmarks in the ways I wanted. Most could stay the same, but I had to change the Australia, Easter Island, China, Brazil and London ones. I put together this rough draft where I had almost all my icons moving, I just had to work on Looping them and making them move one at a time!
Then disaster struck, I tried to move my files onto a different computer, and it would not work, it deleted all the work I had done and the files wouldn't load. When I went back to the original computer, the same thing was happening. With 4 days till the deadline I had set, I was very upset about this, but I decided since I had the Illustrator file, instead of trying to recreate all the work I had put it, I would take one landmark and work on making that one more detailed in the animation sense. I took the Easter Island heads and I made little candies to come out of their heads like a Pez dispenser and I had some fun with that. My next draft looked was close to complete, but when I presented it for feedback to my peers and mentor, I was told to go one step further and look at better timing options. I originally had each head rotate up, each candy move out and in and the heads close. All uniform. But now I made them go at different times, with the candy in the middle falling to the ground. It is no Disney animation, but for taking an Adobe program I had never used before and making a goal to create an animation in 2 weeks. I am proud of my work.
